WooCommerce WhatsApp integration: orders, stock and cart recovery
WhatsGrow connects to your WooCommerce store with REST API keys, syncs products, customers and orders, and recovers orders stuck at pending payment. The AI agent can then answer stock and tracking questions in chat. Some Shopify automations do not exist for WooCommerce yet, and this page says which.

What does the WooCommerce WhatsApp integration do?
It imports your WooCommerce products, customers and orders, keeps them updated through signed webhooks, and treats orders left at pending payment as abandoned carts to recover. The AI agent reads the same data to answer stock, price and tracking questions, and can create an order inside WooCommerce when a customer is ready to buy.
Sync. Products (including variations of variable products), customers and orders are pulled in, then updated by five webhooks WhatsGrow registers for you: order created, order updated, product created, product updated, product deleted. Each delivery is checked against a per-store secret.
Pending-order recovery. WooCommerce has no "checkout started" event, so an order sitting at pending payment is tracked as an abandoned cart and reminded on WhatsApp.
AI agent tools. Check stock and price, send a product photo with its buy link, look up an order with tracking, take an order, and correct a shipping address before dispatch.
Sync Logs. One page lists every import and its errors, so a failed sync is visible instead of silent. Open it from the last-sync line on the store card.
How do I connect WooCommerce to WhatsGrow?
Create a read and write REST API key in WordPress, then paste the store domain, consumer key and consumer secret into Ecommerce > Store Connections. WhatsGrow registers its webhooks automatically. Press Sync Now to import your catalogue, then switch on Abandoned Recovery and attach an approved template.
- In Settings > Industry Pack, choose eCommerce, and connect a WhatsApp Business number.
- In WordPress, open WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > REST API, press Add key, set permissions to Read/Write, and copy the consumer key (
ck_...) and consumer secret (cs_...). They are shown once. - In WhatsGrow go to Ecommerce > Store Connections, press Connect Store, and pick WooCommerce.
- Fill in Store Name, Store Domain (
mystore.com, no https://), Consumer Key and Consumer Secret, then press Connect Store. The fields marked optional in the form are still required for sync and webhooks to work. - Press Sync Now on the store card. Watch Sync Logs until products, customers and orders finish.
- Open Ecommerce > Abandoned Recovery > Recovery Settings, check that Recovery Enabled is on, and choose an approved template and the timing.
WhatsGrow calls https://yourdomain/wp-json/wc/v3, so the site must serve HTTPS and its REST API must be reachable from outside. A security plugin that blocks the REST API or webhook deliveries will stall the sync.

What can I automate between WooCommerce and WhatsApp?
Three things work today: reminders for orders stuck at pending payment, stock and product questions answered by the AI from your synced catalogue, and orders taken in chat that land directly in WooCommerce. Order confirmation, COD confirmation and shipping messages are Shopify-only for now.
Pending payment to WhatsApp reminder
TriggerA customer clicks Place Order, and the order stays at "pending" because payment did not complete.
- The order webhook arrives and WhatsGrow records a recovery entry with the WooCommerce pay-for-order link.
- Reminders follow your Abandoned Recovery timing. The defaults are 1 hour, 24 hours and 72 hours, up to 3.
- When the order moves out of pending, whether paid, cancelled or failed, the entry is marked recovered and the reminders stop.
ResultCustomers who hit a payment error get a link that reopens the unpaid order. The link assumes the default /checkout/ page slug.
Stock question answered in chat
TriggerA customer messages "do you have the grey one in size 42?"
- The AI agent searches your synced catalogue by name, SKU, tag or description, including variations.
- It replies with price, availability and the product link, and can send the product photo.
- If nothing matches, it says so instead of guessing, and a person can take over.
ResultPre-sale questions get an answer from live store data, not from a canned reply.
Order taken in chat, created in WooCommerce
TriggerA customer says they want two of an item.
- The AI collects products, quantities, name and full shipping address, and asks the customer to confirm the country.
- It creates the order in WooCommerce. A cash-on-delivery order is created as processing, anything else as pending payment.
- Afterwards the customer can ask for status, and the AI reads the order and any tracking number back to them.
ResultWhatsApp becomes an order channel without a second system to reconcile.
What are the limits of the WooCommerce integration?
The biggest gap is automated customer messaging: WooCommerce has no order-confirmation, COD-confirmation or shipping-notification automation yet, only pending-order recovery. Recovery itself is an approximation of an abandoned checkout, and tracking depends on a shipment-tracking plugin saving data in a form WhatsGrow can read.
Questions people ask
Why are my consumer key and secret needed if the form marks them optional?
Without them WhatsGrow cannot call the WooCommerce API, register the webhooks or import anything. The form lets you save without them, but the store will not sync.
Will WooCommerce send order confirmations on WhatsApp?
Not automatically today. That automation exists for Shopify. On WooCommerce you get pending-order recovery and the AI agent.
Does it work with variable products?
Yes. WhatsGrow fetches the variations of variable products so the AI can answer by size or colour and create the order with the right variation.
Can I connect it to a staging or non-HTTPS site?
No. WhatsGrow calls the store over HTTPS only, and the site has to be reachable from the internet.
